Interesting how much detail is included in the story. We tend to think we are more jaded now as a society, our media more sensationalist than its predecessors, but our newspapers wouldn’t likely run such a…thorough…account. Hand it to the Victorians (I’m guessing. There’s no date. Could be the Edwardians?) to never shy away from a reminder of human mortality.
